Jung Ja Kang, Ph. D.

Program Director | Curriculum & Character Formation

“Music is not just an art — it is a language that reaches every child, including those the world has yet to understand.”

Dr. Jung Ja Kang holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a focus on Perspective Formation from Biola University, and currently serves as Academic Dean at California Prestige University, Santa Fe Springs, CA. With over a decade of university-level teaching experience and, she brings both scholarly expertise and a deep commitment to inclusive, transformative education. Her doctoral research on perspective formation has shaped a distinctive educational philosophy — one that recognizes how the way
individuals see themselves and the world profoundly influences how they learn, grow, and connect with others. This foundation has guided her work not only in higher education, but in every program she develops for children with unique learning needs.

At Tustin Music Center, Dr. Kang leads curriculum development and character
formation programs for students of all ages and abilities. Grounded in her research on perspective formation, she designs structured learning experiences that nurture not only musical growth but also social awareness, empathy, and personal identity. Her curriculum integrates intentional character formation alongside music instruction, creating an environment where students are encouraged to develop discipline, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Each program is carefully tailored to meet students where they are — building confidence and self-expression through the universal language of music, one lesson, one child, one breakthrough at a time.

Dr. Kang holds an Autism Certificate (IBCCES), through which she has gained
foundational training in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At Tustin Music Center, she applies this knowledge to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for children with ASD, while providing parent consultations to help families better support their children’s learning journey.
Beyond the music studio, Dr. Kang’s heart for service extends to the global community. She and her husband are actively engaged in humanitarian work, supporting children in Africa each year through ongoing outreach efforts. This spirit of compassionate, cross-cultural service deeply informs her approach at Tustin Music Center — where she believes that every child, regardless of background or ability, deserves a place to belong, to grow, and to thrive through the transformative power of music.
