A seasoned performer and thoughtful mentor

Simon Drew is an Australian musician, poet and teacher with rich experience as a performing artist, particularly in jazz and improvised music. Throughout his career, Simon has performed at festivals, jazz clubs, private functions and also onboard the world’s largest cruise ships with his quartet. His standout engagement since emegrating to the USA was an improvised performance at a 12-hour reading of Homer’s The Iliad at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco. Simon has three jazz albums to his name along with three original albums and a published book of poetry and prose called “The Poet & The Sage: A Journey Beyond the Distant Hills”. He is also a co-founder of The Walled Garden Philosophical Society: a community of philosophers and students from around the world joining each other on the philosophical path. Now living in Orange County, Simon manages and teaches at Tustin Music Center and performs throughout Southern California.

“There’s a reason we call it ‘playing’ music. Learning an instrument should be a deeply playful, engaging, and expansive path that reintroduces the student to their own unique creative essence. If learning music feels stressful and restrictive, something is wrong.”

– Simon J. E. Drew
