Summer Sonata: Keyboard Camp for Beginners

CAMP INFORMATION

SCHEDULE: June 17th to 21st, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

EXPERIENCE: Beginner to Intermediate

TUITION: $350

Young pianists, unite! This Summer, April Stephenson will be running a 5-day summer camp where students will elevate their keyboard skills in the following key areas:

  1. Scales and Arpeggios: Understand what makes major and minor chords, as well as basic arpeggios.
  2. Rhythms & Styles: Get familiar with basic rhythms and styles so that you can rock out on the keyboard!
  3. Key Signatures: Learn all of the key signatures along with their corrosponding scales.
  4. Beginner Chord Theory: Learn the recipe for basic chords like major, minor, and 7th chords.
  5. Ear Training: Play fun games exploring ways to connect what you hear to the keyboard!

Throughout the camp, students will participate in group learning games and collaborate with fellow pianists to help everyone to improve quickly. It’s not just about technique; it’s about building a supportive piano community here at TMC!

April has been practicing her craft is music from a young age, graduated from the Orange County School of the Arts in 2015, got accepted into the Berklee School of Music in Boston, and teaches at TMC with a strong focus in music theory and creative exploration.
