Trumpets and trombones and tubas, oh my!

Calling all brass students! Join Australian instructors/brass musicians Simon Drew and Harrison Ball for a week of brass workouts for young musicians learning trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, french horn, euphonium, and tuba.

Throughout the week, we’ll cover the following key areas of brass technique with fun games, “workouts” and team activities.

  1. Scales and arpeggios
  2. Range building
  3. Dynamics
  4. Improvisation
  5. Reading skills

Simon Drew

Trumpeter & Instructor

Simon is an Australian musician educated at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, majoring in jazz trumpet and vocal performance. He has extensive experience performing with small and large ensembles at festivals, clubs, functions, and onboard the world’s largest cruise ships.

Harrison Ball

Trumpeter & Instructor

Harrisson Ball emerges as a dynamic force in the realm of commercial freelance musicians and educators, proudly representing Sydney, Australia. Armed with a BA from The Sydney Conservatory, Harrisson’s journey saw him rise as the lead trumpet in both the Top Jazz Orchestra and the prestigious Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra. His musical odyssey began at an early age, with Harrisson’s talents taking him to an impressive 39 countries by the age of 19, where he showcased his skills aboard various cruise lines.
